Goals & activity
Daily writing goals, per-scene word targets, and the dashboard activity charts.
Vellerune supports two kinds of writing goal: daily goals that track your activity across the whole app, and per-scene word targets set on a single scene. This page covers daily goals and the activity dashboard; per-scene targets are described in the Editor doc. Both are optional.
Daily goals
Open settings from the gear icon in the top-right and switch to the Goals tab. There are three independent metrics, each one disabled when set to zero:
- Daily Writing Time — minutes of active writing per day.
- Words Per Day — total words typed in the day, additions only.
- Net Words Per Day — additions minus deletions; what your manuscript actually grew by.
The distinction between words and net words matters during revision: a heavy editing day can produce thousands of words written but a near-zero net count. Tracking both lets you see the difference between “I wrote a lot today” and “the book got longer today.”
When you cross any of the three goals during a writing session, a toast pops up to confirm it.
The activity dashboard
The dashboard’s Activity section lives below your worlds. Three controls in the top-right of the section pick the time window you’re looking at: 7D, 2W, or 4W (7, 14, or 28 days).
Below the controls, three bar charts show one bar per day across the selected window:
- Writing Time — minutes you spent actively writing.
- Words Written — how many words you typed.
- Net Words — additions minus deletions. Bars go red on days you deleted more than you wrote.
If you’ve configured a daily goal, each chart overlays a dashed line at the goal value, with the value labeled in the chart’s top-right (Goal: 60 minutes, Goal: 1,000, etc.). Bars that reach or pass the line are days you hit the goal.
Hover any bar for its exact value. If the selected window has no activity at all, the chart shows an overlay telling you so.
Continue writing
When you have a last-edited scene, a Continue Writing card appears at the top of the Activity section showing the book, chapter, and scene name. Click it to jump back into the editor with your cursor where you left off.
