Your data
Where your work lives, how to back it up, and how iCloud sync works on macOS.
Where your work lives
Each world is a single file on your computer. App-wide settings — your goals, theme, snapshot configuration, and the list of your worlds — live in a separate file alongside the world data.
The exact folder is different on each platform, and on macOS the Mac App Store version stores everything inside its own sandboxed container rather than your visible Documents folder. You don’t need to find the file yourself — backups go through the dashboard.
Backups
On the dashboard, hover any world card and click its three-dot menu (or right-click anywhere on the card), then choose Backup. You’ll be asked where to save the file — your real Documents folder, an external drive, a synced cloud drive folder, anywhere you like. Backups are full snapshots of the world; restoring is a matter of importing the file again.
The Import World button at the top of the dashboard brings a backed-up world back into the app, including from another machine.
Moving to another machine
Back up the world from the source machine, copy the backup file to the destination (USB drive, AirDrop, email, cloud drive), then import it from the dashboard on the new machine. There are no licenses or accounts tied to a specific computer — just the file.
iCloud sync (macOS only)
If you use Vellerune on more than one Mac, you can keep your worlds in sync through iCloud Drive. Turn it on from the gear icon → General → iCloud Sync. When enabled, Vellerune moves your worlds and settings into your iCloud container, and macOS itself handles the syncing.
iCloud sync is opt-in. With it off, nothing about your work leaves your machine.
